Property Description

Stunning two/three bedroom mid-terraced Victorian cottage in the midst of this sought after residential area close to Wandsworth town. With a beautiful exterior and neat front patio garden you are lead through the front door to the bright reception room facing Barchard Street, with its plantation shutters and original fireplace making this a perfect room to relax in with a gin and tonic. Further down the long hallway you find the first of the modern bathrooms. Next comes the smart open planned kitchen and living space with sliding patio doors opening up into the garden. This stunning room has ample room for dining, relaxing and entertaining. The kitchen is fitted with a full range of modern handleless units, space for a large larder fridge. A skylight floods light into this spacious family room. This room, along with the downstairs bathroom and hallway, also benefits from underfloor heating which turns this room into a cosy place to sit in the cooler months. The utility room runs off here too, a must for any busy household. The beautiful garden has a patio area at the front, perfect for alfresco dining. The raised green space at the rear leads to a lovely summer house/garden office with more storage and useful if you are working from home (opportunity to build a more substantial office here with foundations and electricity already in situ). Back through the house and to the first floor are two good sized bedrooms. The master at the front has a glorious vaulted ceiling, plantation shutters over the large sash windows and Velux remote controlled skylights. With ample storage and ensuite it makes this the perfect room to escape from it all. The second bedroom at the rear also has built in cupboards and shutters on the sash window. Additional storage is available in the attic room.

Barchard Street is a beautiful tree lined street in the Wandsworth Town conservation area. It has a village feel and you are moments from the Old York Road with its plethora of local shops, cafes and eateries. The river is close by with an abundance of Young's pubs serving delicious Sunday roasts. A quick stroll takes you Wandsworth Town British Rail, with easy connections into central London or through Clapham Junction making it easier still for you to escape the city on days out. If retail therapy is your thing, the Southside centre offers an array of all your high street stores including Waitrose and a multiplex cinema. You don't have to travel far to get to one of the areas green spaces for outdoor sporting activities, cycling and running tracks (Wandsworth Common and King George's Park). A short bus ride away and you will find yourself in the ever popular Northcote Road independent shops, eateries and local amenities at your disposal.

Current Owner's Comments

What do you love most about your home? The traditional cottage feel mixed with modern open plan living which is great for entertaining space as well as family living. A feel of space with the high ceilings plus a great sized garden for London which gets plenty of sun. The addition of natural light tunnels in the darker areas (windowless en suite and stairwell) and windows in extension plus master bedroom create a very light space. Very cosy in winter with underfloor heating means no need for slippers on tiles.

Why are you moving? Would like to move out of London for son starting school next September as well as being closer to family.

What do you love about the area? Pre kids the amazing pubs and restaurants on our doorstep with excellent transport links into London or bus stop end of the road takes you easily to CJ, putney, Earlsfield or Fulham. Since having kids, the access to every amenity on your doorstep from large supermarkets, clothes shops, post office, cinema etc, especially backyard cinema opening last year. No need to travel anywhere. proximity to the river and numerous parks also of benefit. We love the community feel of the road - as a small street we all look out for one another which was really notable during lockdown.
