Full description

What do you love most about your home?

Two things:

We love that we have a bigger kitchen than all the other open plan flats we have seen in East London. We love to cook and this additional space has been wonderful to have for making everything from banana bread to Sunday Roasts.

We love how quiet it is for somewhere so near Central London. We are in a gated development off a quiet road so there is never any noise at night.

Why are you moving?

We have loved living in this flat for the past five years. Now it is time to start a family so we are looking to move to a bigger space for little ones.

What do you love about the area?

Our flat is incredibly well-connected. We are a short walk from two DLR stations, a fifteen-minute walk from Mile End Station (Central & District Line) and Bromley-by-Bow Station. When it arrives, Canary Wharf's Crossrail station will be a twenty-minute walk. You are on the A12 in moments and we once drove to the new Ikea through the Blackwall Tunnel in 9 minutes!

We're right in the middle of two large shopping centres at Westfield Stratford and Canary Wharf. I cycle to work in Shoreditch in 20 minutes, mostly along the canal and cycle superhighway.

Unquestionably, best thing about the location is being right on the canal. Your straight on the path when you leave the flat, turn left and you can walk to Limehouse Marina, its historic pubs and the River Thames path. Turn right and you can walk to the Olympic Park, Hackney Marshes and up to the Leyton Flats. We're in Victoria Park most weekends for the market, walks and hanging out with friends. If you prefer woodlands to water, we're a short walk from Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, with its fascinating Victorian headstones and mausoleums.

We're very lucky to be right next to Bartlett Park, which has just been redesigned to remove a road that takes it right up to the canal, with a new food market due to arrive after lockdown. There's a very popular coffee shop, Poplar Roasthouse, on the park where we get fresh sourdough loaves on Saturday mornings.

Most Friday nights we are either in the Star of the East, which has a brilliant "secret" beer garden and great food, or the Angel of Bow, which has a wide selection of Belgian beers. Ref: ISL
