Full description

Set in an iconic Art Deco West London development, and once the home of a classic comedy actor, this bright and spacious three bedroom flat offers warm and comfortable accommodation for a couple, a small family or sharers. The apartment has just undergone a full renovation throughout including a new kitchen, family bathroom, and guest W/c.

Situated on the third floor, the south-facing private balcony offers views over the common garden area and over the horizon to the west.

The principal bedroom is unusually spacious and quiet, backing onto residential gardens, whilst the second bedroom may alternatively be dressed as a sizeable dining room or homeworking space. The generous hallway enjoys ample storage cupboards and a second WC, as well as well-sized kitchen and bathroom spaces.

The flat comes with a share of the freehold, meaning the block is co-owned by the residents and managed according to their shared interests. Recent work has been done to upgrade the heating systems and water supplies to modern efficient systems.

Barons Keep is excellently located for transport links, across the road from Barons Court tube, which runs to Soho in 16 minutes and Heathrow in 33 mins

What the owner had to say:

What do you love most about your home/property?

I have owned this flat for 19 years and lived in it for much of that time until I had to move for work. It is very peaceful, set well back from the road, on a higher floor, full of light, warm in the winter, spacious, and I loved the conveniences of the off-street car parking, the porter, the tube station and bus routes nearby.

I also love the 1930s / art deco feel of the block, as well as the residential community here. A fun fact about this flat is that the comedy actor John Le Mesurier (of Dad's Army fame) lived here for a long time (in this particular flat) and there is a blue plaque commemorating him on the block. I used to get the occasional piece of fan mail long after he died.

Why are you selling?

We're selling because I have got a job in another city, and so we'll be moving up there.

What do you love about the area?

Barons Court is a great area (and a well-kept secret) - it is very central and convenient, but less bustling than nearby Earls' Court, Fulham or Hammersmith. It nonetheless has lots of shops, amenities and connections, as well as nice little parks, pubs and lots of great food options. The local shops and cafes are really well-established and friendly - Cafe Continente (for fantastic breakfast), Best Mangal 1996 (as good as Dalston) and the most useful hardware shop are a five minute walk from the back door. We would often spend the weekends strolling around Kensington, Notting Hill or Brook Green, walking along the river Thames or zipping into Soho on the Piccadilly line. The huge Tesco at Kensington is a short walk or drive, and Westfield is also a short tube ride.
