Full description
A beautifully presented 1st floor flat with off-street parking, which has been renovated by the present owners to include a newly fitted bathroom and separate kitchen in addition to the large double bedroom and separate reception.
The flat is exceptionally well located to the plethora of boutiques along Highbury Barn, most notably Mrs Lovell′s Greengrocers, Godfrey′s butchers, Bourne′s fishmongers and the exquisite La Fromagerie which has an insanely good cheese room. Highbury Fields with its tennis courts, open park and leisure centre are also on your doorstep and connect with Highbury & Islington′s Victoria Line at Highbury Corner and Upper Street, which itself offers an impressive array of boutiques, cafes and restaurants all the way to Angel (Northern Line).
Comments from the owner:
What do you love most about your home?
Aberdeen Park is a real oasis in such a central part of London. First-time visitors to the flat always comment just how quiet it is: we are set back between two small private roads with no traffic, perfect for those quiet Sunday morning lie-ins! The light is the other thing that first made us love this flat. The full-length windows in every room, particularly in the living room, make it such a bright space. In the winter we find the flat is really warm and cosy. It′s almost November and we still haven′t needed to put the heating on. Being two people with a lot of hobbies we also love how much storage the flat has.
Why are you moving?
After seven years in this great flat, we′ve decided that we just need a little more space as our family grows. If we could add an extra bedroom here somehow, we wouldn′t be going anywhere! We′re not going far either, we just love the area so much.
What do you love about the area?
Highbury Fields is literally on the doorstep, we often head to the top fields on long summer evenings to catch the last of the day′s sun and enjoy a picnic. For active types, joining Highbury Fields, Clissold Park and Finsbury Park into a running loop is a great way to get the heart-rate up while staying in as much greenery as possible. It′s also lots of fun having the Highbury Fields Tennis Courts 2 minutes walk away. We′ll really miss being able to pop across for a quick game.
Highbury Barn, a short walk past the park, has such an amazing village feel, with great independent shops: deli, coffee shops, greengrocer, butcher & fishmonger. Our usual weekend trip is for veg from Mrs Lovell′s, a joint from Godfrey′s and a sweet treat from La Fromagerie. Our go-to coffee-spot is Maison Bleu, just next to the Fields (a great bunch spot too) and for something a little stronger, the friendly team at Provisions on Holloway Road have some great wines and beers, and serve up a great cheese plate! We′ve loved having everything that Upper Street has to offer is just a short walk away.
Equally, we love being within walking distance of all the great shops and restaurants on Newington Green and in Stoke Newington. This makes the perfect Sunday stroll without having to bother with public transport. However, having Highbury and Islington Station less than 10 minutes walk away means it′s easy to access all of London. We′re lucky to be spoilt with so many great bars & restaurants nearby: one of our favourite local spots is Linden Stores, just at the bottom of the road. Laura, Chris and the team cook up amazing small plates of delicious seasonal food, paired with great wines. You′ll find us there at least once a week!
