What do you love most about your home?
The main thing we love is the Battersea Park view from the large windows in both the living room and the bedroom. We always hosted Guy Fawkes night because we had a prime position for the fireworks from our window. The other advantage of the windows is the amount of natural light it receives.
Being close to the park also meant that in the summer months we would have our dinners in the park and sit on the hill next to the Rose Garden.
From a practical viewpoint, the flat has ample storage, including a walk-in cupboard and 2 additional large storage cupboards. The building itself is very secure with nice neighbours, and as it is a cooperative, so the landlords and tenants have a say on what budgets are spent on the building, helping to build a community feel.
Finally, the secure car park is a bonus - it only costs £75 annually, which is much cheaper and more secure than the street parking!
Why are you moving?
We love the flat, but we've started a family and so we need more space as we grow.
What do you love about the area?
We love Battersea Park, it has an intimate feel with all of the little walkways, you can easily get away from the crowds in the botanical or secret English Garden. The restaurant in the park next to the crazy golf area makes the most delicious and authentic Italian pizzas and there's also the Pear Tree for brunch or summer drinks on the pond. There are also tennis courts in Battersea Park for any tennis players - we did a couple of courses there and they were excellent!
Additionally, the Battersea Power Station development has brought lots of new independent restaurants, cafes and deli shops including Sendero - our favourite coffee shop with delicious roasted coffee.
Transport links are excellent. You have two stations to choose from within a 5-minute walk - Battersea Park station is one stop to Victoria and Queenstown Road station goes direct to Waterloo. Additionally, there are many buses into central London (Sloane Square in 10 mins) plus the Battersea Power Station tube station will open soon.
Prince of Wales Drive itself is a prestigious road to live on because of the proximity to the park and is regularly featured in movies and TV series.
Finally, we loved heading to our local pub, the Lighthouse, where we were regular attendees of the Tuesday quiz night. Always a great atmosphere!
