What do you love most about your home? I was sure this flat was the one for us when we first saw the floorplan. It's the only one in this development with a huge wraparound balcony/terrace which all the rooms open onto. That gives us lots of extra space to entertain friends or sit in the sunshine in the summer, opening a couple of windows encourages a breeze through the space on really hot days and even in the winter there is lots of light and views from inside. We've grown flowers, fruit and vegetables on the balcony as well, which has been a joy. The third room that we use as a study has made working from home much more convenient, but equally transport links to the City/London Bridge on the train and Canary Wharf by DLR make it really easy to get to work.
I've also found the community at the development incredibly helpful and supportive. Almost entirely owner-occupied and run by a residents association, our next door neighbours lead the communications. Everyone is invested in ensuring Kent Wharf is a great place to live. That includes a gardening group, the 'gnomes' who swap plants and expertise and volunteer to care for the communal garden spaces on the roofs and in the courtyard. There is also a pet-sitting group, book group and general building group who have leant tools, shared food and generally looked out for each other. Building upkeep, security and other maintenance is carefully managed and there are no surprising or extortionate bills!
Why are you moving? My job is no longer restricted to London so we are planning to move back to Scotland, where we have family.
What do you love about the area? Being situated right between the old grandeur of Greenwich and the exciting new businesses in Deptford is perfect. My ideal lazy Sunday is spent wondering to Lomond Coffee in Deptford Market Yard for brunch and then walking it off around Greenwich Park, stopping in to watch the deer for a bit. (During covid in particular Greenwich Park and our friendly local businesses have been a life-saver.) Once I'm back home I sit on the balcony with a glass of wine to watch the sun go down over Parliament, the London Eye, the City, Cutty Sark and all across London.
Offering stunning modern living space, finished to a high specification throughout, with stylish interiors and quality fixtures, the accommodation briefly comprises: Entrance hall with inbuilt storage, leading into the bright and spacious, open plan dual aspect reception/kitchen with direct access onto the superb wrap-around private balcony and ample space for relaxing, entertaining and dining. The kitchen area comprises a modern range of matching white fronted wall and base units with work surfaces incorporating inset sink unit, induction hob with overhead extractor and electric oven below, and further space for appliances. There are three well sized bedrooms - with inbuilt wardrobes and stylish en-suite shower to the master, and access onto the balcony from the two smaller rooms - plus an elegant family bathroom with white three piece suite and sleek tiling.
The property is enviably located in a prime West Greenwich position, just a short distance from Greenwich station providing excellent overground and DLR connections into Central London and the City. Deptford is also close-by offering an eclectic variety of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes, as well as mainline rail services and further underground connections from nearby New Cross. Greenwich itself provides an array of shops, fashionable bars, cafes and restaurants, as well as a selection of regular markets, the iconic site of the Cutty Sark, beautiful Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory.
