There is so much to enjoy in the nearby region, with Hilly Fields right on the doorstep the perfect place to relax or go for a run. It is also one of the most consistently uncrowded parks in London, even on a hot day. Recent years have seen a steep rise in places to eat and drink, with restaurants such as Sparrow, L′Oculto, the Orchard and the Gantry complemented by pubs like Ladywell Tavern, the Talbot and Brookmill Pub. Brockley market and Model market are also great places to spend a Friday or Saturday lunch or evening. We have also enjoyed being within easy walking distance of numerous other nice areas, including Blackheath, Greenwich, Nunhead and Peckham, with Greenwich park a particularly great place to walk around on a Sunday. The transport links are also great, with quick trains to Charing X, Cannon St, Victoria, London Bridge and Waterloo, as well as the reliable and quick DLR offering routes to Canary Wharf, Bank and Westfield Stratford - surprisingly useful with a baby. Even without the proposed Bakerloo line extension, it is a very easy place to travel around London from. Despite the abundance of connections, the street itself is, fortunately, both quiet and friendly. We have loved living in the area and are hoping to remain near Hilly Fields moving forward.
