What do you love most about your home?
It ticked all the boxes for us: a contemporary house but retaining period features that add character, with very high ceilings and large windows which let in lots of light, plus all the bedrooms are double-sized, no box room here. The space to work from home easily and with access to a garden, two parks and the open spaces of Blackheath have been very welcome over the last year.
What do you love about the area?
The two nearby parks (Manor House Gardens & Manor Park) are great, especially for kids. Both contain cafés and playgrounds. Blackheath Village is easily accessed, within walking distance, and our children go to school and nursery there.
Our road has the most amazing community spirit. We know most of our neighbours on Abernethy, and are close to our direct neighbours who are lovely and incredibly welcoming. There's a street whatsapp group, and at Christmas an 'advent calendar' of neighbourhood homes decorated their front windows each night in Dec.
Boasting stunning original features throughout including high ceilings, cornicing and period fireplaces, this wonderful Victorian family home with 35ft south-west facing garden and further potential for extension, subject to the normal planning consents.
Accommodation comprises entrance hall with stairs down to a 22ft under-hall basement, access to guest WC, inbuilt storage, and stairs rising to the first floor. A doorway leads into the bright and spacious double length through reception room with engineered wood flooring, attractive shuttered bay window, two feature fireplaces (including wood burning stove to the front area), and double doors to the rear out onto the delightful garden. To the rear of the property, the beautiful open plan kitchen/diner is flooded with natural light from side aspect windows and bi-folding doors opening out onto the private garden.
The kitchen area itself comprises a high-quality range of matching wall and base units with stunning stonework surfaces incorporating inset double sink unit, gas hob with overhead extractor, electric oven, integrated washing machine and dishwasher and further space for appliances. To the first floor, there are three well-proportioned bedrooms, including a generous front aspect master with period fireplace, inbuilt wardrobes and shuttered front aspect windows, plus a large family bathroom with modern full-sized bath suite and separate shower unit. To the second floor, there is a further double bedroom, plus a modern shower room with rear aspect.
The property is very conveniently located in a quiet and sought after residential road close to Hither Green station, with Lewisham station and DLR connections also within easy reach. The area provides an array of local amenities, with nearby Lewisham offering a wider variety of shops, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities. The area is well served by excellent local schools, including some with Ofsted Outstanding ratings, and lovely open spaces including beautiful Manor House Gardens and Manor Park. Fashionable Blackheath Village is also within easy reach.
Viewings of this lovely family home in an excellent location with enormous community appeal, are highly recommended.
