What do you love most about your home?
We love the light! Facing both east and west, our flat has loads of natural light from morning to sunset, especially in the lounge with its two large double glazed sash windows. The amazing cherry tree in front is a real delight in spring, bursting full of fluffy white blossom, it's a pretty popular photo opportunity and something we look forward to seeing bloom every year. The mix of Victorian and contemporary features makes the flat feel homely and super comfortable. Having the bedrooms split over two floors, makes the whole space feel much bigger, plus is super helpful if you need to work from home.
Why are you moving?
Unfortunately, we're relocating because of our jobs, if it wasn't for that we'd be staying put!
What do you love about the area?
Leconfield Road is the biggest bonus, it's both super quiet with no traffic, and it's also the friendliest street we've lived on in London, we know all our neighbours (unheard of for London) the annual street party in summer is always great fun. The street is a stones throw from Newington Green, which has become a bit of a foodie hotspot. We've spent far too much money on pastries, coffee and brunch at JoIene and Farewell Cafe, for special occasions there's dinner at Perilla… and No.1 Adana does incredible Turkish. Make sure you become a member of Mildmay Working Mans Club - the interior honestly has to be seen to be believed, and as a members club, it means cheap drinks.
Leconfield road is really well connected, Canonbury Overground Station is only 7 minutes walk away, and you can stroll to Highbury & Islington Tube (Victoria Line) in 15 mins, via quiet backstreets of Highbury. There's plenty of outdoor space just nearby, Clissold Park is only three minutes walk away, and we can really recommend joining King Henry's Walk Community Garden, a beautiful natural space you can easily secure an allotment as a local.
