What the owner says: What do you love most about your home?  I love the space, as it was originally a 2 bed flat. I never thought I′d have this much room living in zone 1. I have a large sun-drenched study area that I could make my own and spend a lot of my time owing to the quiet atmosphere, a dining area, loads of storage, and a spacey lounge, meaning as a couple we each have our own personal space. And it′s super bright and leafy outside which I find calming. It also has a super-high-speed Internet. Our flat is three floors up and it feels like we are tucked away in a cosy hideaway - providing peaceful privacy from the city. It is charming and quite large for a one-bedroom flat. With its high ceilings, the flat benefits from lots of natural light. It has South East-facing views of St. Katharine′s Way which gives you a green and leafy view of trees and neighbouring buildings. The lounge is the heart of our home and we spend most of our time in this area. The space features a unique U-shaped set-up which gives the flat a nice flow. The lounge leads into the dining area and then into the home office. Why are you moving? We have a young child so are looking to move to a larger house. We have made so many memories in this flat. It has seen the stages of our relationship from dating to marriage. We hate to leave this area as we genuinely love the flat and the neighbourhood. We are only moving because we have a growing toddler and we need a bigger space to raise our child. What do you love about your area? I feel the building is one of Londons best-kept secrets. I had no idea I′d be able to afford such a large flat in such a central and lovely area. I wasn′t even looking in Wapping as all the buildings around us are super expensive warehouse conversions overlooking the river or new builds on the docks - well above my budget so I, like many others, wasn′t even looking in this area. To me, St. Katharine′s Dock is London′s best-kept secret. It is a hidden gem of a neighbourhood. I love walking down our road. It′s a quiet cobbled street lined with buildings and trees. It′s just a stone′s throw away from Tower Bridge, Tower of London and the marina which is filled with eateries and local businesses. It′s close proximity to the Tower Hill tube station and the DLR. It is also a short walk to either Wapping Overground station and to London Bridge station. It′s perfect for commuting professionals who would benefit from local restaurant and shopping facilities. There is a big Waitrose on Thomas Moore Square alongside a dry cleaner, shoe repair as well as a hair and nail salon/barber. We love Pumblechook′s cafe and coffee shop. They have great sandwiches and coffees. Where the flat is located, you are spoilt with the best of St. Katharine′s Dock and Wapping. St. Katharine′s Dock can be both quiet and eventful at the same time. From its Floating Film Festival to the Clipper Round The World Race, there are a number of events hosted on the marina. On Fridays, you can pop out to the marina for Kerb St. Kats, a street food market. There is also the World Food Market in front of The Tower Hotel which is hosted every Saturday on the riverside. You can also enjoy Tower Bridge and the Tower of London at your doorstep. There are so many restaurants on the dock, you will be spoiled for choice. We love Ping Pong, Mala, and Natural Kitchen. The Wapping side offers green parks and more lovely independent restaurants. For quiet walks or a nice running route, you can take a nice stroll along the canals. On the high street, you have the convenience of a post office, a butcher, a chemist as well as restaurants. Our favourite pub is the Prospect of Whitby. It′s a lovely riverside pub where we had our first date and got engaged.
